These Brownie Batter Bars are inspired by my Protein Cookie Dough Bars. It is insanely addicting, healthy, and so easy to make! It is naturally sweetened with maple syrup and if you love chocolate, this recipe is for you! All you need is 5 essential ingredients, a bowl, and a spatula. 

Ingredients Needed

  • Almond butter: This is the base of your snack and provides protein.
  • Maple syrup: Sweeten up your bars with a healthy sugar alternative. 
  • Protein powder: I used vanilla protein powder I had on hand, but you can use whatever flavor you love or have. 
  • Vanilla extract: Just a hint will go a long way!
  • Cocoa powder: This gives the brownie batter bars its fudgy chocolate flavor.
  • Chocolate chips: this will be melted for the top!

Top Tips for Brownie Batter Bars

Consistensy is key – You want to have a cookie dough consistency from your batter. This is why your recipe calls for honey! It will help all of your ingredients bind and stick together.

Multiple Pan sizes work!: don’t have an 8×8 pan? No worries! Since these are no-bake protein bars, you can use whatever pan ! Use a square pan or a loaf pan.

Can I sub maple syrup with anything? Honey! You can also try date syrup. 

Can I change the flavor of this? You can add different types of nut butter to alter the flavor. Or add some chopped walnuts for a crunch! This recipe is very easy to make your own.

Can I have more than one protein brownie batter bars a day? Yes of course! I like to have everything in moderation!

Is this okay to eat everyday? These homemade bars are okay to eat everyday because they are naturally sweetened and have protein powder.

How should I store these bars? Once your brownie batter bars have been sliced and the chocolate has hardened, transfer into an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 7 days.

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together almond butter, cocoa powder, protein powder, maple syrup and vanilla until smooth.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and add cookie dough on top to spread across and form to make the bars.
  • Add the bars to freezer for about 5 to 10 minutes
  • While bark chills, melt the chocolate chips in microwave
  • Pour melted chocolate across the brownie bars and set in the fridge for an hour!

** Store leftovers in the freezer for up to 2 months!
